Makarios Club Triumphs in Inaugural Moca Open Archery Tournament

The Makarios club won the first Moca open archery tournament, which took place in the facilities of this institution, at kilometer 5½ of the La Puntilla-Salitre road. The other participating teams were Balandra and Tsentsak.

Makarios took the podium by winning two gold medals, four silver and two bronze; Balandra follows, with two of gold, one of silver and one of bronze; and Tsentsak was left with two gold, one silver and one bronze.

There were 35 athletes who represented various provinces, such as Azuay, Pichincha, Tungurahua, Santa Elena and Guayas, becoming an extraordinary meeting of unity for national sports.

“We must continue dreaming and have clear goals, with a winning and not a losing mentality. I would like all of you to be part of this dream. How? By helping us spread the word, by participating, by supporting your children, by signing up, by coming, by inviting others. It is a way to promote this sport in which there is no friction with anyone, and that can be practiced at any age, truly enjoying it,” commented Eddie Icaza, founder of Makarios.

The body of judges, headed by Daitemi Morejón as chief judge, Tania Muñoz and Narcisa Santos as line judges and José Álvarez as shooting director, guaranteed the integrity and fairness of the competition.

As the culmination of this unforgettable day, a Christmas dinner of fellowship was held, deepening the ties of friendship between the participants and expressing sincere thanks to each athlete who, with their outstanding performance, elevated this wonderful sport to new heights.

The participants did not skimp on expressing their gratitude to the organizers for such an extraordinary meeting, thus solidifying the resounding success of the first Moca 2023 Open Archery Tournament. (D)
