Macri and Ibarra angry at the rejection of Milei when he went to vote at La Bombonera | “They are tremendously rude”

Andrés Ibarra and Mauricio Macri, candidates for president and vice president of the opposition list in Boca Juniors, repudiated the insults and boos that Javier Milei received this Sunday in La Bombonera when participating in the club’s elections.

Annoyed by the support that the far-right has expressed for Ibarra and Macri, and with them for the privatization project that they have under their arm, the fans shouted Milei that “The club belongs to the members.”

They also questioned him for his first week as president of Argentina, shouting “adjuster”, for “wanting to get his hands on retirees” and for having “included the entire caste” in the government.

Macri, who has shown himself to be an ally of Milei not only for national elections but also for the club elections, criticized the boos that his new partner received through X, formerly Twitter.

“What a shame to see images of men who claim to be Boca fans, when in reality they are tremendously rude and not spontaneous, insulting the President of the Republic instead of celebrating that he is going to vote for the future of our beloved club. What we saw, Unfortunately, this is what has been happening for four years with Boca. I hope for the future and the good of our club that it ends today,” he wrote.

The former president of the Nation and of the La Ribera club for twelve years had not attended the polls until after noon and Boca security did not know if he would go to vote due to the lack of contact with his personal custody.

At night, Macri plans to travel to Saudi Arabia to attend the FIFA Club World Cup in his capacity as head of that entity’s Foundation.

Minutes before Macri’s tweet, his running mate, the presidential candidate for the “Pasión + Gestión” group, Andrés Ibarra, had spoken out about the boos and whistles.

“It is a shame what the usual violent people did with the President of the Nation, Javier Milei. From Unidos por Boca we believe that our club should always be an example of respect and institutional quality, regardless of the political differences that may exist,” wrote who heads the opposition list to Juan Román Riquelme and Jorge Amor Ameal.

Elections in Boca

The elections in Boca Juniors began after 9:30, with a small delay due to the effects of the storm that hit the city of Buenos Aires during the early hours of the morning.

The more than 94,000 members authorized to vote will choose until 6:00 p.m. between two options: Juan Román Riquelme and Andrés Ibarra, who will compete after a judicial process to challenge a batch of members included in the registry.

The election ceremony takes place in three tents specially installed on the playing field of Bombonera itself, which will allow members to step onto the grass of the legendary stage located at Brandsen 805, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Boca.

The Boca elections should have been held on December 3, their original date, but the opposition judicialized them and accused the ruling party of “serious irregularities in the registers.”

That incident motivated the intervention of justice that gave rise to the initial claim when the case fell to Judge Alejandra Abrevaya, who suspended the elections in the first instance.

However, Chamber E of the Civil Appeals Chamber, made up of judges Ricardo Rosi, José Fajre and Marisa Sorini, considered that the ruling in the first instance was incorrectly granted, revoked it and set an election date for this Sunday.

At the end of the week, the opposition presented a new precautionary measure, which is also being processed in the Abrevaya court, in which they requested that the 13,364 objected members vote in tables separate from the rest and that was granted.

So the tables observed by the Judge where the 13,364 objected members are must vote separately and may be filmed with the intervening observer of the General Inspection of Justice (IGJ).
