Liverpool left-back crisis: Kostas Tsimikas injured, Joe Gomez the only remaining cover

Liverpool left-back crisis after Kostas Tsimikas injured in the match against Arsenal. Joe Gomez now it is the only coating remaining.

Tsimikas was injured when Liverpool hosted Arsenal at Anfield, Sunday (24/12) early morning WIB. Tsimikas fell after being pushed by Bukayo Saka and crashing Juergen Klopp who is on the sidelines.

The incident left Tsimikas with an injury to his collarbone. The Greek defender suffered a broken collarbone and is expected to be out for a long time.

Tsimikas’ injury means Liverpool don’t have many options in the left-back position. Liverpool’s main left-back Andy Robertson is still sidelined due to a dislocated shoulder.

Joe Gomez is the only senior player who can act as a cover in the left back position. Others are young players such as Luke Chambers and Calum Scanlon.

Juergen Klopp will likely rely on Joe Gomez until the new year. Klopp also hopes that Gomez will continue to be fit.

“Can Joe continue playing for how long, I don’t know? Robbo will be back and Kostas will be out for a while. I don’t know, we have to monitor. I haven’t had time to think about it but right now it’s really tough for us,” said Klopp as reported by the Guardian .

“Sometimes you face injuries and you have to accept it but a broken collarbone is very bad because it takes a long time to heal. Robbo’s injury is different but it also takes a long time to recover.”

“We all know we need luck in these moments and now we have to make sure we protect Joey and make sure he is ready to go,” said Klopp.
