Lega Serie A, rumors of failure to extend tax discounts are worrying – Football

“Surprise and concern at the rumors relating to the decision that the Council of Ministers would have taken not to approve any extension of the special tax regime for impatriated sports workers” are expressed in a note by the Serie A League. “This decision, if confirmed , will have as its sole result an outcome diametrically opposed to the one pursued – the note continues -.

The lack of an extension will in fact produce less competitiveness of the teams, with a consequent reduction in revenues, fewer resources to be allocated to the nurseries, less related activities and therefore also less revenue for the treasury.”

“Since the extension proposal had obtained the technical green light to be presented in the Council of Ministers, the fact that it would ultimately have been excluded – continues the note from the League – suggests that a vision of the professional football distorted and tainted by fallacious clichés: a vision that unfortunately does not take into account the extraordinary economic, as well as social and cultural, role that this industrial sector plays in Italy”.

“Should the outcome of the Council of Ministers be confirmed, Serie A hopes that Parliament will be able to correct this error which damages not only Italian football, but all of sport and its considerable related activities.”
