LaMelo Ball Struggles with Brilliance and Physical Fragility: A Career in Peril

LaMelo Ball’s career begins to navigate dangerously between brilliance and physical fragility. No one doubts that in top form he is a spectacular player, but equally his ankles have reminded us too many times in the last two campaigns that his displays tend to be ephemeral.

At present, after suffering a serious sprain to his right ankle on November 26, he is once again unemployed waiting for a recovery that still has weeks to go. It will be in seven days when the Hornets’ medical services will re-examine his joint, but for now he can barely do more than take a few steps. Thus he expresses his feelings in statements collected by Roderick Boone of Charlotte Observer.

«Just slow progress. I am doing treatment every day to try to improve. Since it happened, I feel a little better,” she says before making it clear that she is optimistic about shortening the deadlines for her return.

«It feels much better than when it happened because at first I couldn’t even put pressure on my foot. Now I can stand on both feet and walk a little. I still limp a little, but it’s much better than it looked before,” she admits.

This new injury cut short what was being a very good campaign for LaMelo. Before the serious sprain, he accumulated up to four consecutive games over 30 points, games that helped him reach an average of 24.7 points and 8.2 assists per night. Without him, the present for North Carolina seems complicated.
