KSV Esslingen finally won the title this year. The KSV judokas put in a good preliminary round in the Judo Bundesliga and defeated record champions TSV Abensberg in the final match. After being crowned German champions, the team withdraws from the highest class.
It was the most successful and moving event in KSV Esslingen’s club history so far. Because this year a lot of things came together for the KSV judo fighters. Fight, passion and clever tactics led the judokas to their first ever German championship title. A few weeks later the big bang: because team boss and father of the success Carsten Finkbeiner felt he was no longer able to handle the task for personal and professional reasons and quit, the KSV withdrew from the Bundesliga.
