In an interview, Juri Knorr talks about his leadership role in the national handball team, the inner struggle for the right balance, talking to himself on the pitch – and the challenge in front of 50,000 fans.

At the World Cup last January you scored 53 goals, the second most ever and by far the most in the German team. “He actually throws all his hits with his head,” it said in a portrait about you. Would you say that too?

No. I’m more of an emotional person than a mental person. I think a lot of people misunderstand that too. Of course I think so. But I do a lot of things on the handball field simply out of intuition and feeling.

That’s what you said yourself during the tournament: that when in doubt, it’s important to trust your intuition and instinct.
