In fact, it was 15 December 1995 when a sentence of the European Court, based on the principle of free movement of workers within the EU, recognized the validity of the appeal presented in 1990 by the then twenty-six year old Jean-Marc Bosman: to the midfielder ofRfc Liège he had been prevented, despite his contract expiring in June, from completing the transfer to Dunkirk without payment of compensation to the RFC.
