Jamie Murray will be the new tournament director of the lawn event in Queen’s.

The legendary tournament announced this yesterday in the run-up to Wimbledon.

The doubles expert will fill the role together with ex-player Laura Robson, it is said. The aim is to support British players in finding their roles outside the court as part of their development.

Murray will continue his career and only take a break during the week of the tournament.

“It is a great honor for me to be given the opportunity by the LTA to work with the events team on such a prestigious and respected tournament and to support the development and growth of the Cinch Championships. As most people know, I have a genuine interest in the events side of the business, having started as tournament director for the Murray Trophy and most recently organizing the Battle of the Brits, to provide the best possible experience for the players and fans who attend,” Murray is quoted as saying.

Murray is another active player who is starting out as tournament director – before him, these included Tommy Haas (Indian Wells) and Feliciano Lopez (Madrid). Haas and Lopez have now ended their careers.
