Jacksonville Jaguars Remove Canadian Quarterback Nathan Rourke from Active Roster

The Jacksonville Jaguars have removed Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke from their active roster, it was announced Saturday.

Rourke is expected to be added to Jacksonville’s practice roster next week, provided he is not claimed off waivers. He will receive his full salary this week.

The Victoria, BC native was placed on the Jags’ roster on December 9 after starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence injured his ankle against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 4. Lawrence returned to start the Jaguars’ next game on December 10, meaning Rourke did not see action.

Rourke, 25, signed with the Jaguars this offseason after a standout year with the BC Lions in the CFL. He made an appearance on the team’s active roster in October, but was reassigned to the practice squad shortly thereafter.
