It didn’t work out in Colorado. The Avs sent Tatar to Seattle

This didn’t work out. Tomáš Tatar basically waited all summer to find out where he would sign. He ended up choosing Colorado, which in retrospect doesn’t turn out to be a good choice. As of tonight, he is no longer a member of the organization, he was traded to Seattle.

After only 27 games, forward Tomáš Tatar’s tenure with the Colorado Avalanche ended. On Friday, the Avs traded him to the Seattle Kraken for a 2024 fifth-round pick.

Although many believed that Tatar would be a very useful signing for Colorado, bringing a wealth of experience and complementing an already well-rounded staff, in the end those hopes were not fulfilled. The 33-year-old had a hard time getting into a rhythm with his new team, and the Avalanche acted quickly.

After scoring 35 goals in two seasons with the New Jersey Devils, Tatar signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Avalanche earlier this season. However, he didn’t make much of an impact in the organization, finishing his short tenure with 10 points and a single goal against the Calgary Flames on Monday.

The price for Tatar’s services to Seattle is nowhere near what the Vegas Golden Knights and Montreal Canadiens paid.

The Golden Knights traded second- and third-round draft picks for the winger in 2018, while the Habs later traded for Slovakian Max Pacioretty, forward Nick Suzuki and a second-round draft pick.

Tatar may not have had his best season, but he is a proven scorer who has scored 20 goals six times in his career. However, Avalanche ran out of patience, on the contrary, Kraken will welcome reinforcements into the attack.

If Tatar proves himself to Seattle, it will be a win for the Kraken. If not, they will only lose a fifth round draft pick.
