It may be that Thomas Müller has not been busy working part-time at FC Bayern in recent months. But he has taken on a few important additional tasks off the pitch. For example, he feels responsible for the integration of new players and/or external communication, especially in delicate sporting situations.
Now he also slips into the role that was never really filled after Matthias Sammer’s departure from the German record champions a good seven years ago: that of admonisher. After Munich’s 3-0 win against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, Müller simply didn’t want to join in with the general praise, especially for a talent from his own youth that had come into focus in the duel with the surprise team of the first half of the season.
