KUANTAN: The Tengku Ilisha Cup Indoor Badminton Tournament 2023 was organized for the first time to foster the spirit of togetherness and unity among the residents of KotaSAS here.
The tournament involved was the brainchild of Miss Panglima Puteri Suraya Mohamed Moiz, a resident of KotaSAS.
Chairman of Springvale P7 KotaSAS Residents Association (SVRA), Izudin Muhamad Amin who is also the tournament director said,
The organization this time is based on the spirit of unity and togetherness of KotaSAS residents.
He explained that it is also an effort to further diversify sports and recreational activities involving local residents in the residents involved.
“The idea of this tournament was welcomed and supported by the Royal Patron of the Pahang State Badminton Association, Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Ilisha Ameera Al-Sultan Abdullah.
“This tournament takes place at the Pahang Badminton Association Hall. It was attended by 10 teams and gathered 130 players and more than 250 supporters,” he said when met here.

Meanwhile, the President of the Pahang Badminton Association, Tengku Aidy Ahmad Shah Tengku Kamil Ismail said, his party is pleased with this organization which is seen to foster community interest in the sport of badminton.
He also expressed his pride because the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was also willing to defame the royals to watch some matches in the closed tournament.
“Several relatives of the Pahang Royal Family and state government leaders were also present to enliven the event,” he said.
The inaugural tournament was won by the ‘Evergreen’ team from Precinct 5 of KotaSAS. They took home a cash prize of RM2,000 and a round trophy. – MESSENGER
