IMDET’s Free Classes Program Set to Resume in January After Winter Break

The permanent program of free classes will be resumed in January.

Tijuana, Baja California.- Due to the winter vacation period, the activity of the Sports Initiation and Sports Talent Development Centers of the Municipal Sports Institute of Tijuana (IMDET) will be paused starting Monday, December 18 in sports units in the city to be resumed in January.

“This Friday is our last day of activities in 2023 and we are working on defining the schedules and days in which classes will be taught in 2024,” said the director of IMDET Cecilio Humberto Hernández González about the permanent program of the XXIV Tijuana City Council. chaired by Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, which offers free training sessions to the community.

During 2023, the IMDET Sports Initiation Centers and Sports Talent Development program served an average of 500 monthly users through an offer of 24 classes that were taught in 13 sports units in Tijuana.

The offer included Baseball and Softball classes at the Las Cascadas Sports Unit, Physical Activation at the Salvatierra Sports Unit, Volleyball at the La Morita Sports Unit, Boxing and Soccer at the El Rubí Sports Unit, Soccer at the Reforma Sports Unit, as well as Volleyball at the Ernesto “Pajarito” Ruiz gym and Physical Activation at the Gran Tenochtitlán Sports Unit.

Free Physical Activation, Basketball, Cachibol, Soccer and Volleyball classes were also taught at the Tijuana Sports Unit, Physical Activity, Boxing, Karate, Volleyball and Beach Volleyball at the CREA Sports Unit, Physical Activation at the Independencia gym, Basketball at the Sánchez Taboada Sports Unit, Physical Activation and Boxing at the Jorge Fitch Sports Unit and Physical Activation and Karate at the Mariano Matamoros Sports Unit.
