Sprint races will be held for the first time in China and Miami. Both events represented a “fantastic addition”, said Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali: “Since its launch in 2021, the Sprint has consistently ensured a larger audience on television, more entertainment for fans at the track at events and to offer more interactions on social and digital platforms.”

China and Miami replace the tracks in Baku and Belgium, where the sprint format was used last season. The 2024 calendar includes a total of 24 race weekends. For events with sprint races, there is only one free practice session, followed by qualifying for the Grand Prix on Sunday. Saturday is all about the shortened race with sprint shootout and sprint.
