Andrelton Simmons of the Cubs, Twins and Angels has retired. On Thursday, Shohei Ohtani’s former Angels teammate and Gold Glove winner Andrelton Simmons officially announced his retirement, ending a full decade of stellar defensive play.
His announcement came following the selection in November of a team of 2023 Gold Glove winners that included Anthony Volpe of the New York Yankees and Ha-Seong Kim of the San Diego Padres, among others.
The former Angels shortstop announces the end of his career. Simmons played for the Angels, Braves and Twins throughout his eleven-season MLB career, ending with the Cubs for a 34-game season in 2022.
