Fans need more than chocolate coins

There are demonstrations in the Bundesliga stadiums against the plans for an investor to get involved. But if the fans want their protest to have an impact, there is only one option – and that would be radical.

Can you overtighten a screw? Of course you can, every hobby craftsman knows that. Turn hard, a little more, something will work, a little more with all your strength – and ratchet. No more stopping, no amount of cursing helps. Everything is new, or, depending on the surface, just a thicker screw.

Can football overturn its business model? From experience you have to say that this obviously doesn’t work, no matter how tight you turn it, this screw still went in a little deeper. There have been warnings that the industry is overdoing it this time, every time something has been changed that the consumer actually doesn’t want. Split match days, multiple kick-off times, increasingly bloated competitions with more and more teams, more and more subscriptions to more and more television and streaming channels? Everything worked.
