South American School Games: The multi-sport event that takes over from Santiago 2023

– From December 4 to 9, more than 1,500 adolescents from 12 nations of the subcontinent will meet in the Chilean capital
After the successful completion of the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the first held in our country, the South American School Games are coming in their 27th version.
The disciplines in competition are eleven: Chess, Athletics, Adapted Athletics, Handball, Basketball, Futsal, Judo, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Para Swimming is included as an invited discipline.
From tomorrow until Saturday, December 9, more than 1,500 schoolchildren, between 12 and 14 years old, from: Argentina, Bolivia, Bonaire, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Linares will also be present at this great sporting event. The volleyball team, led by Cuban Joaquín Planas, will represent our commune, region and country.
Coach Planas provided more information regarding participation in this South American: “we leave this Monday at 8 in the morning. It is the under 14 team, boys. We will have to face the group, which is made up of Paraguay, Brazil, and Suriname. It won’t be easy, but we will try to play our game and try to get a medal. Our sextet is the same one that won the School Games, only players from Linares. Our main objective is to achieve a podium finish, that’s why I have complete confidence in my players: Briones, Estuardo, Chandia, Gavilán, Quiroga, Méndez, Veloz, Bora, and Castro. Personally, representing Chile in this competition is very important because it has been the country that opened the doors for me. I also want to highlight the work of my colleague Liber Dalí, for his support in what has been this preparation with a view to the South American School Games.”
The Linares team is debuting with Paraguay, then with Brazil and finally with Suriman, in the first group stage. A nice challenge for these kids who are very motivated to face this sporting event.
The last edition of the South American Games was in Asunción Paraguay, on that occasion the national delegation was made up of 161 athletes who won a total of 49 medals, including 13 gold medals in athletics, Para Athletics, Judo and Swimming.
