even brighter for more depth

The arrival of the new Garmin Descent Mk3 series makes the diving experience incredibly unique, through an even richer suite of functions and a set of components with advanced technology. The accessories of the series also evolve thanks to the new Descent T2 transmitter with SubWave sonar communication protocol, capable of putting dive buddies in contact and monitoring the status of the tanks with the Diver Assistance1 function.

Garmin Descent Mk3: luminoso display AMOLED touchscreen

The big news isn’t hidden in Descent Mk3’s setup menus, but rather in one component of its incredible design: the bright AMOLED touchscreen display. An innovation
which improves the quality of the dive, allowing unique visibility, clarity of information in any environment and a battery life of up to 48 hours in diving mode.

Da 100 m (10ATM) a 200 m (20ATM)

In Descent Mk3 the depth of use has been extended, bringing the guaranteed functions from 100 m (10ATM) to 200 m (20ATM) thanks to a completely redesigned case.

Designed to be worn throughout the day, the Descent Mk3 series has been developed to satisfy all wearability needs: a fundamental innovation is represented by the two case sizes now available – 43 mm and 51 mm – which offer compatibility with the optional air integration sensor on both sizes.

With a comprehensive feature set such as single gas and multi-gas dive modes, DiveView™ maps, Dive Readiness Score for dive preparation, as well as Garmin’s suite of physical parameters monitoring and smartwatch connection, the Descent Mk3 series is presents itself today as an essential accessory for divers: both in water and on the surface.

Garmin Descent Mk3: exploring the sea depths safely and with accurate data

The innovations present in the Descent Mk3 series allow you to dive with greater awareness and with the certainty of being able to count on a reliable calculation algorithm and extremely precise data.

Available soon, with a simple software update, Diver Assistance is the revolutionary function that allows, if necessary, to request assistance directly from the watch thanks to the SubWave sonar communication protocol. When using Descent Mk3i, which is the product version compatible with the Descent T2 transmitter, divers can send a request for assistance to other divers, also equipped with the same equipment, so that people nearby can view the depth and the distance from the diver in difficulty, assisting and monitoring him until he is safe.

Descent T2 transmitter

Again thanks to the software update available soon, the new Descent T2 transmitter will allow the transmission of pre-set messages to group members up to a distance of 30 metres.

The application of Descent T2 on the first stage of the regulator unit not only allows messaging but allows you to have greater awareness of the position of your dive companions. Dive group tracking displays depth and tank pressure for up to eight Descent T2-equipped divers within a 10-meter radius.

In Descent Mk3, the design has been conceived as “diving – oriented”: a case optimized for diving up to 200 meters and a resistant sapphire crystal lens assembled to guarantee total reliability at double the depth compared to previous generations.

Torcia a LED Flashlight

The brightness offered by the new AMOLED display is not the only light source present in Descent Mk3. In the 51mm case version of the Descent Mk3i, the integrated Flashlight LED torch provides multiple light irradiation modes to illuminate the darkest environments, both underwater and on the surface.

In addition to the many new features already mentioned, in Descent Mk3 there is a new feature that gives a precise picture of your preparation for the dive: the dive
readiness. This useful function takes into consideration lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, stress and possible jet lag, to analyze how the body is responding to these variables in a diving perspective. A higher value associated with preparation may suggest that it is possible to dive without special precautions, while a lower score may be reason to consider using a higher conservatism setting or choosing an easier dive.

Ready for the descent

The Descent Mk3 series is the result of the experience gained by Garmin in the diving world and was developed following the real needs of diving lovers. For this reason it has different diving modes capable of satisfying the needs of those who make the underwater world the place of their sporting, recreational or professional activities. Six dive profiles, from single and multi-gas (including nitrox and trimix), depth gauge, freediving, spearfishing and even closed-circuit rebreather system support. You can customize the data screens for each dive mode or choose a standard, simplified dive screen, with larger text to make it easier to see the most important dive information.

There is also plenty of space for orientation, both in the water and on the surface with the new integrated DiveView maps, capable of showing bathymetric depth lines and over 4,000 dive spots around the world to help locate specific sites such as wrecks, ideal points for underwater fishing and more. Built-in sensors, such as a depth gauge, barometer and underwater compass, help navigate a dive, while surface GPS helps track entry points into the water and exit points to the surface. The descent and ascent speed, fundamental data to avoid decompression problems, are constantly monitored and guaranteed, and can also be used by applying threshold alarms via tones and vibrations. Before diving, the Descent Mk3 series allows you to check the tide conditions from your watch4 and navigate to the identified dive point.
Ample space for data review thanks to the dive logs of the Garmin Dive app, which keeps track of previous activities, locations, equipment as well as notes and notes to share via the dedicated smartphone app.

Garmin Descent Mk3: 6 new versions for all needs

The Descent Mk3 proposal meets and satisfies all usage and aesthetic needs.
For example, there are versions with smaller dimensions in the 43 mm case and 1.2″ display with stainless steel bezel and caseback and comfortable Fog Gray silicone strap. For those who instead want a 43 mm diameter product but with the useful integration of air, Descent Mk3i is the device that offers both models with titanium bezel and case back, to give greater lightness to the product and with double chlorination option : Titanium PVD Bronze with French Gray silicone strap and Titanium Carbon Gray DLC with Black silicone strap.

The larger version of Descent Mk3i offers a 51mm case and a large 1.4″ display. Lightness and robustness are guaranteed by the titanium present both in the bezel and on the case back, but also in the optional version with titanium bracelet.

Not just immersion

The prerogative of Garmin smartwatches has always been to assist the wearer throughout the entire process
day, for all the activities practiced and in the name of a dynamic life. For this reason, the Descent Mk3 and Descent G1 series, despite being designed for the dive world, offer multisport analysis functions to practice many sporting activities in and out of the water, from trail running to swimming in pools and open water, from hiking to golf and more. They also feature premium fitness tracking features5: VO2 max estimation, suggestions for daily running and cycling workouts, endurance score and hill score, which can help users stay fit (even for the next dive). Furthermore, information on physical parameters and habits such as sleep monitoring and related quality analysis, Pulse Ox and Jet Lag Adviser, can help you understand your needs and requirements even while traveling.

Perfect for exploring new destinations, but also for enjoying outdoor activities close to home, the Descent Mk3 series has navigation and orientation features to always stay on track. Pre-loaded TopoActive Worldwide maps allow you to always have a safe and reliable reference when traveling, while SatIQ technology can help provide superior positioning accuracy with multi-band GPS, while optimizing battery life. You can also create or find existing routes in the Garmin Connect app and get detailed directions right from your watch, or enter your desired distance and get round-trip route suggestions that use TrendLine™ to find the best local routes.

The Descent Mk3 series also allows you to receive smart notifications from your smartphone and allows you to listen to music with a Bluetooth headset by downloading songs from Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music (a premium subscription is required); It also ensures you train with greater peace of mind thanks to incident detection and assistance, as well as speeding up checkout times with Garmin Pay contactless payments and more.
