Ducati Opens Opportunity to Recruit Marc Marquez for MotoGP 2025

Jakarta

Most of the drivers’ contracts will expire at the end of next season. Ducati CEO Paolo Ciabatti did not rule out recruiting opportunities Marc Marquez for MotoGP 2025.

Marquez is only contracted to Gresini for the next season. The eight-time world champion showed an impressive performance in the Valencia pre-season test so he is predicted to return to enliven the title competition.

If Marquez is truly competitive again, the 30 year old racer could be promoted to the factory Ducati team. However, Ciabatti revealed that the issue of Marquez’s salary would influence the decision.

“Because we don’t have any definite riders for 2025, I would say without a problem that Marc will be one of the candidates for the factory team,” Ciabatti told GPOne.

“There is definitely an important aspect to highlight, namely from an economic point of view in relation to which we have not been in a period before COVID, where a rider like him could earn a very high salary.”

Ducati will still maintain the duo Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini until 2024. Bagnaia’s future seems guaranteed after presenting back to back MotoGP world champion titles.

“Now we will enjoy the party in Bologna, then go on holiday, then we will discuss the contract at the beginning of next year. What I can say is that both Bagnaia and Ducati want to continue this journey together,” Ciabatti added.
