Daryl Morey Extends Contract with Philadelphia 76ers Through 2027-28 Season, Sets Sights on Playoff Success

Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has agreed to a contract extension through the 2027-28 season, according to media sources ESPN. This agreement contractually aligns the executive with current coach Nick Nurse.

The 76ers have had a regular season winning percentage of 65.3% in Morey’s more than three years in his position, including the 16-7 balance with which they have started the 2023-24 season. However, Pennsylvania has not been able to get past the Conference Semifinals in its three postseason appearances.

Morey’s last big move was the transfer of James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a series of assets that have improved the depth of the squad and that can be used, again, in new operations to better surround the star duo formed. by Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

Morey arrived in Philly in November 2020 after 14 seasons as general manager of the Houston Rockets. He posts a 62.4% winning percentage between the two franchises, including nine 50-win seasons and 12 playoff appearances. Morey has a record of 810-489 as a general manager, ranking fourth in the NBA’s all-time ranking.
