[마이데일리 = 구현주 기자] The Korea Federation of Credit Unions announced on the 21st that this is the fifth year it has sponsored school sports organizations across the country.

The school sports group sponsorship project is a social contribution project that supports school sports groups that are unpopular or have high growth potential. Starting with the sponsorship of Daegu High School’s badminton team in 2019, the target sports are gradually expanding to include the judo team and handball team.

This year, the National Credit Union Federation of Korea held a ‘Local Sports Group Sponsorship Ceremony’ to revitalize local sports organizations and foster aspiring sports players, and donated a total of 75 million won in operating expenses to 13 schools across the country. The total cumulative sponsorship amount in 2023 will reach 750 million won.

Athletes from 13 local sports groups across the country selected for this year’s project will promote the credit union through uniforms sponsored by the credit union and spread the credit union’s spirit of sharing through sports.

Kim Yun-sik, president of the Korea Federation of Credit Unions, said, “We are continuing to support athletes in unpopular sports in order to give hope to underprivileged sports dreamers,” and added, “The credit union will work together with youth in the community who are able to pursue both academics and sports even in difficult situations.”
