Colombian archer Sara López became champion of the Archery World Cup this Saturday in Hermosillo, Mexico.

López confirmed that she is the best in the world, after defeating the Danish Tanja Gellenthien 143-142, with an epic comeback, and in this way she won her eighth gold medal in her record.

The road to her sixth consecutive world title began in the quarterfinals, when she beat India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam 144-149, and then in the semifinals she beat South Korea’s Su A Cho 143-142.

“A smile, eight titles and millions of emotions. Sara López, an ambassador who fills us with pride, who shows that through determination the goals set can be achieved. Bravo, champion,” published the X account (formerly Twitter) of the Ministry of Sports.

“I am very happy for this achievement, it was a very difficult feat to achieve… the weather was one of the most difficult I had in my entire sports career,” said the 28-year-old athlete from Pereira, after winning the gold medal.

And he added: “This is a dream, the truth is I thought that the peak of my career had been last year when I won the seventh.”

In this way, López will arrive with his “sharp” aim for the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, which will be held from October 20 to November 5.
