Choosing the Right JR Pass Option for Your 14-Day Trip to Japan

Bonjour,
4 of us are going to Japan from July 15 to 28.
Exactly 14 days on site and on the program: Tokyo, Hakone, Hiroshima, Kyoto (Nara) and departure from Osaka.
The problem arises: JR pass yes, but 7 or 14 days???
I wonder if I take 14 days the pass is useful and enough to get around Tokyo, Hakone and Hiroshima? Or I take 7 days and complete with regional passes…
Are there things that are not included in the past?
Many thanks in advance for any advice!!!
Renata

With the new prices, the 14-day JR Pass, at more than €500, cannot be profitable by far.
Tokyo – Hiroshima -Kyoto shinkansen journeys cost around ¥36k out of the ¥80 for the pass. And even adding airport transfers and small trips, we are far from the mark.
The round trip to Nara should cost around ¥1500…

For the 7 days, it’s a little different. I assume you won’t stay more than 6 nights in Hiroshima, so it might cover all the shinkansen rides. So we are at ¥36k out of 50. That still makes a difference of €100. But if we add the short trips, and the fact that there will perhaps be a few days of use in Tokyo, for Hakone, for example, we get closer to ¥50k.
Must see. It will be comfortable if not profitable.

The JR Pass covers all JR lines, except the fastest shinkansen, such as the Nozomi. It also covers one of the two ferries to Miyajima, the Yamanote in Tokyo, and the Osaka circular line. But all that doesn’t cost much…

For the other passes, I’ll pass (!) my turn, I’m bad at regional passes.

Hello maitrepo,
I had read that Nozomi was entering the JRpass from October 2023? Is it effective or not?
Thanks in advance

Yes, at the time for me, I had forgotten…

But you have to pay extra.

Thanks, I couldn’t find any specific info on this (!)
Do you have any idea of the supplement?
I ask the question because… for our trip the 14-day JRpass does not seem interesting, unless we add a Kyoto-Hiroshima journey, hence Nozomi… but depending on the supplement maybe the JRPass is really not worth it…

To re-ginko, I advise you to find a site where you can consult train timetables and prices, enter ALL your planned journeys and see how many you have. The 14-day JRPass is really expensive compared to individual tickets…
