Champions League: PSG has a tiny hope of seeing Zaire-Emery and Marquinhos in Dortmund

While PSG’s horizon had darkened somewhat, there is a brightening in the sky of the reigning French champion. One week, to the day, from the Champions League clash against Dortmund which is decisive for qualification for the round of 16, Marquinhos and Warren Zaire-Emery resumed training with their partners this Wednesday afternoon.

Not really a surprise regarding the Parisian captain, his return to his team sticking to initial estimates. On November 23, on the eve of the success against Monaco (5-2), the PSG medical press release had anticipated an absence of ten days. His recovery this Wednesday afternoon therefore allowed him to gain three days of additional treatment and to participate in almost all of the collective training.

The surprise, however, is greater with regard to Warren Zaire-Emery. Hit in the right ankle on November 18 during his first selection for the French team against Gibraltar, the young midfielder was announced to be recovering until the end of 2023. He also participated in the entire of the session, stopping, like Marquinhos, just before the final opposition. Barring any complications, they should be able to play all the sessions from this Thursday morning.

In these conditions, everything is open for the future. The nature of the Brazilian’s injury means that he has a head start and could apply for a return to the group next Wednesday at the latest in Germany. As for Zaire-Emery, there is a tiny hope of seeing him, too, return to the dance. The club is, of course, giving itself the opportunity to call on him before the end of the year. But the slightest decision will be made based on the player’s feelings.

Having feared a serious injury and being aware that returning too early would have unfortunate consequences, no risk will be taken. No one forgets the fact that he only started racing again a few days ago and that he has not really tested himself at high intensity so far. The coming days will be decisive. The only certainty is that those sick from the weekend, starting with coach Luis Enrique, are doing better. Already, the start of favorable weather.
