Celebrating the Achievements of Tijuana Athletes: Recognizing Excellence in National and International Competitions

Tijuana, Baja California.- In order to recognize the achievements and performance of Tijuana athletes in the national and international competitions held in 2023, the Tijuana Municipal Sports Institute (IMDET) held the award ceremony this Wednesday. Municipal Sports.

“In the name of our Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, we will continue supporting Tijuana residents to go to national, international or warm-up competitions,” said the director of IMDET Cecilio Humberto Hernández González in his welcome message, who was accompanied by the Secretary of Welfare Gerardo Lopez Montes.

A total of 339 athletes, both conventional and athletes with disabilities, obtained the statuette that distinguishes them for their sporting talent in a ceremony held at the Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno Municipal Auditorium, which also hosted a gala dinner for the honorees.

Among the outstanding athletes who attended the event was the winner of the gold medal at the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games Karina Martínez Sandoval, gold medalist in Boccia; as well as Lilian Borja Pérez, seventh place in the Heptathlon discipline at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, and Darío Axel Rodríguez Valenzuela from Athletics.

Statuettes were also presented to Esther Alexa Camarillo Flores from Paranatación, who won 5 golds in the Conade 2023 Para Nationals; Emmanuel Rodríguez Zárate, Sports Shooting, Bronze in Conade Games 2023; Andrea Mariana Vázquez Acevedo from Canotaje, who achieved two silvers in the 2023 Conade Games.
