Carlos Alcaraz will be without Juan Carlos Ferrero in Melbourne

World number two Carlos Alcaraz will have to do without his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero at the Australian Open 2024. The Spanish sports newspaper “Marca” reported this on Sunday. Accordingly, the former world number one will not accompany his protégé to Melbourne due to the after-effects of an arthroscopy on his left knee.

Ferrero is still fully integrated into Alcaraz’s preparation for the season and, according to the report, he should not miss any training sessions. However, the first joint tournament in the coming season will probably be the ATP Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells (March 6 to 17, 2024).

At the Australian Open, Alcaraz will be looked after by Samuel Lopez – actually coach of Pablo Carreno Busta. The two-time Grand Slam winner will then be supported by Antonio Martínez Cascales in South America.

Alcaraz is currently preparing for the new season at Ferrero’s academy near Valencia. Among others, the 20-year-old will train there with Flavio Cobolli and Jannik Sinner in the coming days.
