Byzantine Archers Shine at City of Ravenna Trophy 2023

This year too the Byzantine Archers wore the organizers’ shirt and on the weekend of 18 and 19 November they welcomed, in the historic gym of the Perdisa Agricultural Institute in Ravenna, around 130 athletes from around twenty clubs from Emilia Romagna and Veneto. The “City of Ravenna Trophy” was also honored by the presence of two athletes from the national groups: Federico Musolesi from the Aeronautica Militare Sports Group and Eleonora Sarti from the Defense Paralympic Sports Group. Thanks from the company for their presence. And among the efforts of the organization, the home athletes also found time to get on the podium: many individual and team podiums. The female quotas were definitely on the rise and they dominated by conquering most of the podiums for the Byzantines. For the OL bow, gold medal for Sofia Fuschini in the senior female category with a score of 536 (263+273); bronze for Tina Karasova who took third place with a score of 476 (239+237) in the women’s masters category. There is also a gold medal for the very young Viola Brunelli with a score of 430 (203+227). Closing the podiums of the individual OL is Marcello Tozzola, gold medal in the men’s master category with a score of 566 (285+281). There is also no lack of female quotas in the AN division where the podium in the senior women’s category is totally yellow and red. Gold for Donatella Domini with a score of 481 (240+241), silver for Sabrina Bandini with a score of 447 (217+230), third Melania Ghetti with a score of 343 (155+188). The men also did well: a double for Michele Baroncini and Simone Pizzi who climbed onto the first and second step of the podium respectively in the senior men’s category with scores of 513 (249+264) and 509 (248+261). Massimo Venturi also took the podium and pulled off an excellent 528 (253+275) which earned him the silver medal in the men’s master category and his new personal record. The teams that take a total of 5 podiums are no exception. Sofia Fuschini, Palmiero Concettina and Giusi Torelli win the senior women’s gold medal for the OL bow with a score of 1407 (536+459+412). Also on the podium was the OL men’s team but in the master category: Marcello Tozzola, Simone Pizzi and Giovanni Putzu won the silver medal with a score of 1560 (566+526+468). The students also scored, taking third place: Nicola Barlotti, Gambi Aaron, Castro Ramirez and Felipe Ernesto won the bronze medal with a score of 1055 (419+341+295). The AN podiums were also crowded with both senior teams on the first step of the podium: Michele Baroncini, Simone Pizzi and Alessandro Ruma won with a score of 1416 (513+509+394) while Donatella Domini, Sabrina Bandini and Melania Ghetti won with the score of 1271 (481+447+343). The other individual placings: OL SF, Palmiero 4th, Torelli 5th; OL MM, Pizzi 6th, Putzu 10th, Noferini 12th, Casadio 14th; OL JM Grassi 6th; OL AM, Barlotti 9th, Gambi 10th, Ramirez 12th; OL AF Morrongiello 4th; OL RF Turci 6th; AN SM Ruma 5th.
