The personnel problems at Borussia Dortmund come to a head two weeks before the winter break. Youssoufa Moukoko, Marius Wolf, Marcel Sabitzer and Julian Ryerson were caught in the cup game in Stuttgart.

BVB player Ryerson on crutches

Moukoko left the pitch after just 24 minutes due to muscle problems in his thigh. At halftime, Wolf (a sprained ankle) and Sabitzer (also a calf problem) followed. Niclas Füllkrug, Ramy Bensebaini and Julian Brandt came into the game.

However, Julian Ryerson got the worst of it. After an aerial duel, the Norwegian accidentally hit his knee on the grass and left the pitch in great pain – supported by two BVB employees. The 26-year-old was later on crutches in the catacombs. An MRI scan on Thursday should provide information about the severity of the injury.

BVB on Saturday against Leipzig

Niklas Süle, Giovanni Reyna (both with colds) and Sebastien Haller (strained knee ligament) didn’t even make the trip to Stuttgart. On Saturday (6.30 p.m.) BVB will face RB Leipzig in the top Budnesliga game.
