Coup de théâtre on the cycling transfer market: Cian Uijtdebroeks leaves Bora-Hansgrohe with immediate effect for Jumbo-Visma (next year: Visma-Lease a Bike). Uijtdebroeks was charming in the last Vuelta, but at the same time it became clear that he was no longer happy with the German team due to internal struggles.
Cian Uijtdebroeks has been predicted to have a golden future for a number of years, something he immediately confirmed in his first big tour. The barely 20-year-old Belgian immediately finished 8th in the Tour of Spain.
The always cheerful Uijtdebroeks did not appreciate the fact that his teammate Aleksandr Vlasov stole from him 7th place in the rankings in the last mountain stage.
Even then it was clear that he was no longer happy at Bora-Hansgrohe. Due to the arrival of Primoz Roglic, Uijtdebroeks also dropped one place in the pecking order of the German team.
And so Uijtdebroeks chose to go in the opposite direction, towards Jumbo-Visma, which will paddle through the peloton next year as Visma-Lease a Bike.
Despite an ongoing contract for 1 year, Uijtdebroeks immediately made the switch. He signs a 4-year contract with the team of Wout van Aert, among others.
