Bayern Munich Suffers Embarrassing 5-1 Defeat to Frankfurt in Bundesliga

National champion Bayern Munich went to Frankfurt with their buttocks exposed in the Bundesliga. After 36 minutes they were already three goals behind. A goal from Kimmich did not make any difference, Frankfurt increased the score to 5-1 after the break.

With 17 goals in their last four games, Bayern Munich seemed to be gradually gaining momentum in the Bundesliga. Coach Thomas Tuchel’s team had not dropped any points since the draw against Leipzig at the end of September.

They hoped to continue that line against Frankfurt, but Bayern started poorly. Right back Mazraoui quickly made a mistake, after which Marmoush was able to score the 1-0. Bayern continued to struggle and suffered a double uppercut after the half hour. First Ebimbe was able to score, then the young Larsson too.

Bayern was in trouble. Kimmich was able to give his team some hope again just before half-time, but after half-time there was little improvement to be seen from the Redkordmeister. Ebimbe quickly made it 4-1 with his second of the evening.

A directionless Bayern had to empty the cup to the bottom on the hour. Knauff’s goal was initially disallowed, but VAR still made it 5-1.

Bayern loses heavily and gives leader Leverkusen the chance to increase to six points in the standings tomorrow. Victor Boniface and co. will then take on Stuttgart, third in the standings.
