Basketball Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Updates Fans After Hip Injury

How is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (76)? The athlete was once one of the most successful basketball players in the world. A few days ago, the NBA star made headlines with rather unpleasant news: he fell at a concert and broke his hip. For this reason, he was admitted to a clinic for an operation. Now Kareem is contacting his fans again for the first time since the incident!

“I was at The Manhattan Transfers’ last concert at Disney Hall. I was supposed to read a letter from Kamala Harris (59) and add a bit of my own praise for a group that I love and admire. But just before that When I wanted to start, I fell and was taken to hospital with a broken hip,” the 76-year-old reports on Substack. Kareem admits that he would like to say that he sustained the injury while rescuing a child, but he simply tripped. “At least my fall made it into the headlines so I made your show even more memorable,” the New Yorker sees the positive side of it.

After he ended his career as an active athlete in 1989, Kareem also tried to gain a foothold in other areas. In addition to his work as an assistant coach for the LA Lakers, he also published books, campaigns against social injustice and even tried his hand at acting with a few guest appearances in Full House and The Big Bang Theory, among others.
