Asvel’s Home Woes Continue in Euroleague

Asvel will still have to wait before finally winning at home this season in the Euroleague. On Wednesday, she lost to Maccabi Tel-Aviv (94-91). This is already the fifth defeat for the Villeurbanne team in front of their home crowd. Since the start of the European season, Asvel has only won two victories and remains 17th and penultimate in the standings.

After a balanced first quarter, Nando De Colo and his teammates found themselves left behind by Tel Aviv (33-22, 14th). But they reacted superbly, inflicting a 15-0 on their opponent to take the lead (37-33, 17th). The match then remained close until its conclusion.

From Colo happy and unhappy to three points

Three seconds from the buzzer, De Colo, with a long-distance shot, allowed Asvel to come back within a length (92-91). But, in the process, the Israeli club obtained a series of free throws and did not waste this opportunity. On the final possession of the ball, Nando De Colo attempted a final shot from distance, which this time did not go in.

The Villeurbanne point guard was very prominent with 22 points scored. Joffrey Lauvergne was also decisive for Asvel with his 23 points, as was Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot (19 points). Next Friday, the three former NBA players and their partners will have a new chance to win at home since Asvel will host the Spaniards from Valencia (9 p.m.).
