Andreas Leknessund, the cyclist and training at -24 degrees: frozen eyebrows – Corriere.it

by Andrea Sereni

The cyclist, eighth in the last Giro d’Italia, has returned to his native Norway where he challenges extreme temperatures to train

He smiles happily. She has ice on her eyebrows, but she doesn’t seem to care. Training in extreme conditions, at minus 24 degrees. But apparently Andreas Leknessund got used to it. Norwegian cyclist, from Tromso, he is 24 years old and has raced for DSM this season. He is now at home, in Norway, and he has started training again. If necessary, even at 24 degrees below zero. Which in Tromso, the northern coast of Norway, which also looks down on Iceland and wallows in the Arctic Ocean, is not uncommon.

He showed off his workout in a video shared on social media. Frame the thermometer on the handlebars of the bike, the data -24. The road full of snow, everything frozen. He shows a thumbs up, smiles as if he isn’t frozen. And to the images he adds the following comment: Watopia? Never heard of it in reference to an indoor training program. No, he doesn’t want to be indoors. Even if it’s December, and the temperatures are prohibitive.

Leknessund will race with Uno-X Pro Cycling from next year, with whom he recently signed a new contract. His career is on the rise: in 2020 he achieved success in the Under 23s, but above all he held the pink jersey for eight days in the last Giro d’Italia, in which he ranked eighth in the general classification. A few months ago, during the Giro, a shot shared from Naples, in the pink jersey: Pizza, a nice climate and prosecco. Italy showed its best side today, I appreciated every moment. How can you blame him.
