SANTO DOMINGO. –The 36th edition of the Round Robin format for the Semifinal of the Dominican League begins tonight at the Julián Javier Stadium and Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.
In this edition the teams from San Francisco and San Pedro de Macorís will face each other for the first time against the teams from Santo Domingo.
Fifteen times before Licey and Esído have met in the Round Robin since they first did so in 1987-88, the most recent being in 2018-19.
They have reached the final four times, while both were left out of the Round Robin in 2014-15.
The two from Macorís were left out in 1994-95 and 2019-20 and met in Round Robin in 2010-11, 2014-15 and 2020-21, reaching the Final Series.
In San Francisco de Macorís, lThe defending champions Tigres del Licey, ranked fourth, face the leading Gigantes del Cibao starting at seven at night.
Brooks Hall (0-1,4.76) will be the Licey opener, while Nate Antone (0-1,0.00) goes for the Giants at the Julián Javier Stadium.
The coverage begins half an hour before the game with the Giants pre-game program through Telemedios Canal 25 on national television and on MLB TV.
And on CDN Radio 89.7 FM, for the fourteen provinces of Cibao; CDN Radio 92.5 FM for Greater Santo Domingo, South and East Zone and CDN Radio Punta Cana 89.9 FM.
In Santo Domingo, Those classified in third, Leones del Esgido, receive the Estrellas Orientales, who won second place at 7:30 p.m.
The Cuban guy Jorge Martinez (2-0, 2.45) will take the mound for the Stars to face Victor Santos (4-1, 3.97) by the Chosen One at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium.
Game coverage begins with the Lions’ pregame show a half hour before the game, which will air on Digital 15 nationally and MLB TV worldwide.
And on Independencia 93.3 FM for Santo Domingo and Este; Ke Buena 105 FM in Cibao and Ke Buena 103.9 in the South.
The 18-day calendar will have five free dates and is scheduled to end on Thursday the 18th. In this first phase, the game will be played until Saturday to be back in action on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
The Tigers are in their 28th Round Robin commanding their opponents; vs. Estrellas (46-36), against the Giants (40-33) and against Esído (57-51) with a record of 262 wins, 229 losses.
