Last week we shined the spotlight on the premiere winners of the WTA tour. This time it’s the men’s turn, where there are fewer “first times” due to the high density of players. However, there are still enough to justify a fine picture gallery.

Jannik Sinner achieved his first success at an event of this magnitude at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Toronto
While 12 women’s players were able to lift a victory trophy on the major women’s tour in 2023 for the first time in their careers, there are only five men’s players on the ATP tour. That’s why we also took a closer look at the players who have triumphed in a higher tournament category than before – such as the Masters 1000 victories of Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner this year.

Tallon Griekspoor: The Dutchman struck for the first time at an ATP Tour event (Pune, India) last season and followed that up with a home win in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Yibing Wu: Chinese men’s tennis is also slowly becoming an international force. The 24-year-old won the tournament in February in Dallas – 6:7 (4), 7:6 (3), 7:6 (12) against neo-tennis pensioner John Isner.

Alex de Minaur: The lively Australian had already had six 250cc events to his name by the beginning of the year. In Acapulco (in the final against Tommy Paul) it also worked for the first time at an ATP World Tour 500 tournament.

Andrey Rublev: The Russian was allowed to let himself fall into the hot sand of Monte Carlo with real emotion. Almost six years after the first of his 14 total successes on the tour, he achieved his first victory in a Masters tournament.

Andrey Rublev: With a 5:7, 6:2, 7:5 final victory over the Dane Holger Rune, the Russian set an example at the Monte-Carlo Country Club

Arthur Fils: The Frenchman, who is only 19 years old, was able to show his extraordinary talent again and again in 2023. He achieved this particularly impressively with his first ATP tournament victory at home. Fils prevailed against Francisco Cerundolo in Lyon.

Alexander Bublik: If things go well for the fickle Kazakh, he can be extremely dangerous for everyone, especially on fast surfaces. He proved this in Halle/Westphalia, where he won the first 500cc title of his career.

Christopher Eubanks: The American secured his debut success on the ATP tour at the ripe age of 27. At the lawn event in Mallorca, he clearly defeated Adrian Mannarino 6:1, 6:4 in the final.

Pedro Cachin: Pedro Cachin was even a year older than Eubanks when he lifted his first trophy in the European clay court summer in Gstaad. Veteran Albert Ramos Vinolas was left behind in three sets.

Daniel Evans: Only the second ATP Tour success for the Brit and then immediately at the ATP 500 event in Washington. Dan was ahead in the US metropolis against Tallon Griekspoor 7:5, 6:3.

Jannik Sinner: 2023 was a really strong year for the popular figure from South Tyrol. An immense exclamation point was the first success at an ATP Masters 1000 event on the US summer hard court tour.

Jannik Sinner: In Toronto, Canada, the northern Italian clearly won 6:4, 6:1 against the aforementioned Alex de Minaur. Sinner then achieved success at the two 500cc events in Beijing and Vienna.
