Essevee in particular created enough opportunities to score, but it was Ostend that scored the opening goal. Just before half-time, sharpshooter Maxime D’Arpino took a far corner kick wonderfully: 0-1.
Zulte Waregem seized that moment to monopolize the ball, but it often collided with the stiff Kustboys, who proved dangerous during the many transition moments. And for the home team, despite good opportunities for the Vossen/Gano duo and a strong final offensive, the ball just didn’t go in.
