On November 9th, the “40th Best Jeanist 2023” presentation was held in Tokyo, and Japan basketball representative Yuki Togashi (Chiba Jets) received the “Global Special Award in the Council Selection Category.”
The Council Selection Category is selected by the Japan Jeans Council’s “Best Jeanist Selection Committee”, which is the organizer. The criteria for selection is that they are active with an indomitable spirit that will never be lost.
Togashi participated in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 held in Okinawa this summer as the captain of the Japanese national team, contributing to the team’s ability to qualify for the Olympics on their own for the first time in 48 years. The team was selected for the award because the way they stood up against a far more powerful country was “similar to the spirit of “Keep on your Jeans Spirits.””
Numerous male athletes have received the award so far, including skateboarder Yuto Horime, baseball player Masahiro Tanaka, and soccer players Atsuto Uchida and Keisuke Honda, but this is the first time a basketball player has been selected.
Taking to the stage, Togashi revealed that the award came as a surprise, and expressed his joy, saying, “I think basketball is a sport that is closely related to fashion, so I’m happy to receive this award.” I made it.
