PSV wants to work with Jürgen Dirkx again, Rik Elfrink reports on behalf of the Eindhovens Dagblad. The former assistant coach left for Royal Antwerp to assist Mark van Bommel, resulting in a dispute over a lump sum payment. Elfrink calls the interest ‘remarkable’.

Dirkx previously served as Van Bommel’s assistant coach with the PSV first team, but was sent away in December 2019 due to disappointing results. In January 2021, the club decided to bring him back as an individual coach in the youth academy.

A few months later it was announced that Dirkx would train the Under 18s, where he would succeed Ruud van Nistelrooij, who had left for Jong PSV. However, Van Bommel’s appointment at Antwerp brought an abrupt end to the collaboration between Dirkx and PSV.

The Eindhoven club was surprised by the turn of events, as Dirkx indicated in the past that he no longer wanted to work with Van Bommel. In addition, PSV repaid the confidence in Dirkx with a new contract. The club therefore demanded a lump sum payment from Antwerp in the form of an annual salary. It is not known whether it came.

Now it appears that PSV and Dirkx will once again be reunited, as the club is looking for a permanent trainer for the Under 17s. After Stijn Schaars was promoted to the first team, several coaches took care of the work of the youth team.

As assistant to Van Bommel, Dirkx became national champion and cup winner in Belgium last season. However, the 48-year-old Reusel-born coach is ready to stand on his own two feet again and would like to return to PSV, it sounds.
