WTA Finals in Cancun Suspended Due to Rain: Semifinal Between Sabalanka and Swiatek to be Completed Sunday

The semifinal between the Belarusian Aryna Sabalanka and the Polish Iga Swiatek, numbers 1 and 2 in the world, in the WTA finals in Cancun (Mexico) has been suspended due to rain and will be completed this Sunday, while the final, in which the American Jessica Pegula is already waiting, has been rescheduled for Monday. At the time of the suspension Swiatek was leading 2-1 and Sabalenka was on serve, at 30-30.

The semi-final between Jessica Pegula, fifth racket in the world, and her compatriot Coco Gauff, third in the ranking, in which they won 6-2 and 6-1, has already suffered a couple of interruptions due to rain and wind.

The rain also wiped out the doubles program, whose semifinals will also have to be played this Sunday. The clash had begun to be disputed between Pegula/Gauff and Laura Siegemund (GER)/Vera Zvonareva (RUS), with 6-3 for the North Americans and 1-1 in the second set.
