A nineteenth victory won this year… in 22 races. The Dutchman Max Verstappen took part in the last Grand Prix of the season on Sunday November 26 in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

Starting in pole position, the Red Bull driver finished ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Briton George Russell (Mercedes).

Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), initially second, received a 5-second penalty and dropped to fourth place. Followed by the two McLarens of Briton Lando Norris and Australian Oscar Piastri.

Spaniard Fernando Alonso, seventh, finished fourth in the drivers’ championship, behind Verstappen, Pérez and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) – and tied on points with Leclerc (206).

Mercedes vice-world champion among manufacturers

With the world titles already locked by Verstappen and Red Bull, the final round of the season still had a few final issues including the fight between Mercedes and Ferrari for the place of vice-world champion among the constructors.

Before the arrival of the paddock in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Mercedes (392 points) was only four points ahead of the Scuderia (388).

The battle definitely turned to the advantage of the German manufacturer, thanks to the ninth place of its second driver Lewis Hamilton, who brought two additional points to his team.

The Ferrari team – whose second driver Carlos Sainz finished far from the points – is three points behind the eight-time world champion from 2014 to 2021.
