Who will be Steven Defour’s successor? A few regulars from Jupiler Pro League mentioned and also a surprising track – Football News

Steven Defour left this week as coach at KV Mechelen. For the time being, Frederik ‘Fred’ Vanderbiest is doing the honors, but at Malinwa they are of course already looking for a replacement.

Patrick Goots immediately suggested the name of Marc Brys. He was fired not so long ago at OH Leuven and could therefore be an option at Mechelen. The question is whether he is willing to take on a new job straight away.

Bernd Hollerbach is another name that invariably comes up when looking for a new profile for a coach in the Jupiler Pro League. The German has a lot of experience in Belgium at Mouscron and STVV and therefore knows the competition.

German connection?

It could also immediately strengthen the German connection within Malinwa, so it is certainly a valid option that is mentioned here and there. Thanks to the link with Helmond Sport, Bob Peeters was also briefly considered, but in the Netherlands it is formally stated that this cannot be the case.

Ivan Leko was also mentioned in the corridors as a possible option, but so far this is not immediately likely. An option would be to move Pieterjan Monteyne from the promising team to the first team.
