In the second quarter, a similar battle took place on the court, with the score varying from 11 to 16 points in favor of France.

At halftime, the home team won with 40:24. Salauna had scored ten points, making all four two-point shots, but Ieva Pulvere was the most productive in the Latvian national team with five scored points.

In the second half, France increased its lead even more, reaching the 20-point mark early in the third quarter after Mamignan Toure’s two-pointer, making it 45-24, and at the beginning of the fourth quarter, after Lou Lopez’s three-pointer, the difference in the score exceeded 30 points (63-32).

In the middle of the last quarter, during the fast attack, the home player Marie Paula Fopossi got a leg injury while leaving the field, but it did not affect the course of the game.

In this selection window, 14 candidates were invited to the national team, of which the injured Kate Vilka cannot help the national team, while the debutant Evelina Otto is included in the team. The coaches did not include center player Laura Melder in the twelve that went to France.

The Latvian team has only one game in this competition. The Executive Committee of the European Division of FIBA, taking into account the situation in Israel and security considerations, has moved the matches of the European Women’s Basketball Championship qualification tournament with the participation of the Israeli women’s national team from November 2023 to February 2024. The game Israel – Ireland is scheduled for February 8, and the game Latvia – Israel – February 11.

Head coach Gulbi is assisted by U-20 national team leader Aigars Nerips and Matīss Rožlapa, who is working in Germany this season. Both assistants also have a lot of experience in the national team.

The European Championship will be held in four countries for the first time from June 9 to 19, 2025. Each of the four countries will host a group tournament, with the final stage taking place in the Greek capital, Athens.
