Vējonis re-elected as LBS president – BNN

Former State President Raimonds Vējonis was re-elected to the position of president of the Latvian Basketball Association (LBS) at the members’ meeting on Saturday, November 25.

The only candidate for the position, Vējonis, received 51 out of 53 possible votes, with two delegates voting against him.

Vējonis was elected as LBS president for the first time in 2020, and his term of office will end on January 20, 2024.

In 2020, Vējonis was elected LBS president, receiving 34 votes, while his competitor Anete Jēkabsone-Žogota received 14 votes. Kaspars Tsipruss withdrew his candidacy at that time and was confirmed as the general secretary of LBS in the same year.
