Uli Hoeneß hints at potential sports director appointment for Bayern Munich

In an interview with RTL/ntv, Bayern honorary member Uli Hoeneß indirectly confirmed a conversation with the 50-year-old – but kept quiet about further information: “We said that we would be the sports director in the next three, four, five, six Months – we’re not sure – we’ll probably hire a man. “Then we’ll see whether it will be Max or someone else,” revealed Hoeneß.

The Bayern icon then made it clear once again that the Munich team had no influence whatsoever on what happened in Leipzig.

“He told me that he didn’t feel very comfortable in Leipzig and that the chemistry just wasn’t right. “I can only emphasize again and again that Max’s departure from Leipzig has nothing to do with FC Bayern,” said Hoeneß, confirming that he had spoken to Eberl.

As SPORT1 reported at the end of September, the Bayern makers Hoeneß and Rummenigge want a strong, experienced and media-effective sports director who works strategically in the background. A profile that fits Eberl perfectly.

“The sporting department should be complete by next spring, when the transfer period begins, because Karl-Heinz and I don’t plan on doing a second transfer period,” explained Hoeneß with a smile. In addition, “an excellent sports director” has been hired in Christoph Freund.
