U17 World Cup: Senegal in turn demands “the disqualification of France”

After Burkina Faso, unfortunately eliminated in the group stage against France, it is Senegal’s turn to demand the “disqualification of the French team” from the U17 World Cup. This Wednesday, the Bleuets eliminated Senegal in the round of 16, on penalties.

In a press release, the Senegalese Football Federation issues a “denunciation of ineligibility of the player Yanis Issoufou” to the director of the competition taking place in Indonesia. The left winger from Montpellier had already made headlines this Wednesday, after the revelations of his international past with Niger and his participation in a competition linked to the World Cup with the Niger team. Burkina Faso had already lodged a complaint after discovering that the transfer of Yannis Issoufou had not been made and validated by FIFA. After its elimination against Bleuets, Senegal intends to do the same.

FIFA regulations prohibit participating in the “same” competition with two different selections. As a precaution, Jean-Luc Vannuchi had not included the player in the list for the round of 16 against the Lion Cubs of Teranga, the time to resolve this imbroglio with the international federation. As mentioned, this Wednesday ahead of the round of 16, for an appeal to be valid, it must be filed five days before the start of the competition.

The French team does not risk disqualification, as its opponent demands. The fate of Yanis Issoufou remains unknown for the rest of the competition and in particular for the quarter-final against Uzbekistan, this Saturday, November 25.
