Toulouse-Liverpool sold out in the Europa League

The disappointing results of Toulouse (14th in Ligue 1) this season and the heavy defeat conceded at Anfield (1-5, October 26) will not prevent its supporters from coming in large numbers to the Stadium this Tuesday (6:45 p.m.) for the return match against Liverpool, during the 4th day of the Europa League group stage. More than 32,000 supporters are expected to attend the meeting which will be sold out.

In addition to those reserved for 17,000 TFC subscribers, tickets were sold out in just a few hours, several weeks ago. A resale of 1,300 places on October 31 also made some people happy at the last minute. Enough to bring the expected attendance to a record, in the new configuration of the enclosure.

More spectators than in 2007

For the organization of Euro 2016, the Stadium had indeed undergone major work. To meet competition safety standards, its capacity had been reduced. Today it has 33,150 places. In this configuration, the record dates back to last season when PSG hosted in Ligue 1 (0-3, August 31, 2022), with 31,739 spectators. A figure which should therefore be beaten.

For comparison, 30,380 spectators attended the defeat of TFC (0-1, preliminary round first leg of the Champions League) in August 2007 during Liverpool’s first visit to Occitan soil. The absolute record attendance at the Stadium for a football match, in the modern era, dates back to February 13, 1998, with the reception of OM in Division 1 (0-4), in front of 36,982 spectators.
