The Rumored Move of Luca Marini to Repsol Honda: His Reasons and Goals

Jakarta

Mooney VR46 racer Luca Marini is widely rumored to be moving to Repsol Honda. Valentino Rossi’s younger brother revealed the reason he was considering moving to the Japanese factory team.

Marini has not officially moved to Honda. However, the Italian racer is reportedly getting closer to replacing the position left by Marc Marquez to Gresini Racing. When asked GPOne After the 2023 Qatar MotoGP sprint race, Marini explained why he wanted to move to Honda.

According to Marini, he has a dream and goal of developing a motorbike for a manufacturer, racing with it, and successfully winning the world championship. And Ducati has the most perfect bike in MotoGP, so those things are easier to realize.

“So leaving Ducati is not an easy choice, because with it you have a big possibility of fighting for the podium in every race,” explained Marini, quoted from GPOne. Even so, Marini wants to move to Honda, because he has confidence that the manufacturer with the flapping wings symbol will rise again.

“Honda is struggling hard now, but I am sure that in the future, they will win again like in the past,” continued Marini. By racing with Repsol Honda, Marini will have the privilege of being a factory team racer, something that was difficult for him to achieve on Ducati.

On the other hand, if he joined Honda, Marini would struggle even harder, because the Honda RC213V motorbike is currently less competitive, and is also far behind European teams, such as Aprilia and KTM. If Marini can adapt quickly with Repsol Honda and achieve positive results, then that will be an achievement in itself.
