The Latvian women’s basketball team lost in the European Championship qualification game against France

Latvia lost to France with 49:71 (11:23, 13:17, 8:20, 17:11).

Anete Steinberga opened the score with a two-point shot in the 22nd second, and the French responded with six points in a row, reaching 16-3 after a 10-0 breakthrough, and 20-5 after Zhanele Salauna’s two-point shot.

France won the first quarter, in which the Latvian basketball players made ten mistakes, but the hosts made ten out of 13 shots from the game, 23:11.

In the second quarter, a similar battle took place on the court, with the score varying from 11 to 16 points in favor of France.

At halftime, the home team won with 40:24. Salauna had scored ten points, making all four two-point shots, but Ieva Pulvere was the most productive in the Latvian national team with five scored points.

In the second half, France increased its lead even more, reaching the 20-point mark early in the third quarter after Mamignan Toure’s two-pointer, making it 45-24, and at the beginning of the fourth quarter, after Lou Lopez’s three-pointer, the difference in the score exceeded 30 points (63-32).

In the middle of the last quarter, during the fast attack, the home player Marie Paula Fopossi got a leg injury while leaving the field, but it did not affect the course of the game.
