The Best TV Shows and Documentaries to Watch Tonight – November 26th, 2023

TV tonight

Stasi FC is a gripping feature documentary. Plus: it’s Junior Eurovision time! Here’s what to watch this evening

Sun 26 Nov 2023 07.00 CET

Stasi FC

9pm, Sky Documentaries

In East Germany during the late 1970s, the football team you chose to support was often seen as a political statement – and the matches were the only place where you could express your political opposition. This almost outrageous feature documentary shows how the Stasi used bribery, intimidation, surveillance and possibly even assassination to ensure success for their team, BFC Dynamo. Hollie Richardson

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023

3pm, BBC Two

For the first time in Junior Eurovision’s 10-year history, the UK is sending a group to compete: the trio Hayla, Maisie and Yazmin – AKA Stand Uniqu3 – who were brought together after a nationwide search. They’ll join other talented nine-to-14-year-olds in Nice, France, while hosts Lauren Layfield and HRVY commentate from back home. Ellen E Jones

Planet Earth III

6.20pm, BBC One

David Attenborough takes us to the world’s most extreme habitats this week, starting in the pitch black Hang Son Doong in Vietnam – the biggest known cave on Earth, where magical life is found in its deepest chamber. Onwards, and we meet Arctic wolves, Barbary macaques and monarch butterflies. HR

Three Little Birds

8pm, ITV1

Lenny Henry’s Windrush drama continues with a dash of fun as the girls go on a work trip to Dudley Zoo, but will Leah and Shelton get it together? Aston has a flashback to past trauma as he tries to make contact with a long lost familymember, giving a glimpse of the grittier side of life. Hannah Verdier

Boat Story

9pm, BBC One

Love it or hate it, the Williams brothers’ peculiar – and divisive – comedy-thriller gets into its stride this week. Janet (Daisy Haggard) and Samuel (Paterson Joseph) count their new riches, and the Tailor’s (Tchéky Karyo) search for them is distracted by dreams of making pasties with Pat (Joanna Scanlan) after their night together. HR

Bill Bailey’s Australian Adventure

9pm, Channel 4

Bailey is in his element on his amiable Australian tour this week. A jam session with a local metal band allows him to showcase his considerable musical chops. He also explores the famous wine region of Margaret River and devises a vintage of his own, involving truffles and, for reasons best known to himself, gnomes. Phil Harrison
